It’s easy to fall into the trap of opulence or austerity when selecting the light fixtures for the home. It’s hard to inspire a warm and cozy decor through the choice of light fixtures although it’s true that sometimes they play a key role in the overall design. Imagine a wood pendant light in any of the rooms in your home. Wouldn’t it look elegant? I guess that depends on the design of the pendant, its form and style but also the decor of which it becomes a part of.
Although a little bit intimidating, black is not a color you should stay away from when decorating. In fact, black is wonderful when creating contrasts and highlighting features. You can also use it to add a little bit of drama to a space. A black chandelier may seem a little bit unusual in some cases but you can use that to your advantage if you’re aiming for a unique, eye-catching and sophisticated decor with a little bit of theatrical charm. A similar effect can also be achieved with dark colors in general.
A more subtle pop of color is an option when you choose a fixture where the color is on the interior, instead of the exterior as in this wooden pendant by Donald Baugh. The Crown Pendant has a curvaceous and profile made of solid wood with a hand-sprayed interior color.
